Marketing Workshops for Small Business Groups

Hands-on sessions for chambers, SBDCs and business groups. Owners leave with work done on their own business, not just notes.

In person or virtual.

Three Workshops

Book one, or run them in order. Each one builds on the last.

01

Super Avatar and Buyer Personas

We define the one customer you want more of, the super avatar, then split it into buyer personas by why they buy now and what holds them back. Owners leave with a filled in avatar for their own business.

02

Build an Offer Stack

We build an offer from the buyer personas: the core service, the bonuses, the guarantee and a reason to act now. Owners leave with a draft offer in plain words.

03

Where to Advertise First

We look at where each persona searches and scrolls, then pick one place to start. Owners leave with a simple first plan for their ads.

How a Workshop Runs

  • Short teach, then hands-on work. I explain one idea, then everyone applies it to their own business.
  • A worksheet for each step. Like the example on this page.
  • Real businesses, not case studies. People work on what they sell.
  • Questions as we go. Owners get answers on their own situation.

A small business marketing workshop works best when people leave with something done. That is the whole design.

For Chambers and SBDCs

Chambers, SBDCs and business groups can book one workshop or the full set.

I can fit a member event, a training program or an online session. Send your date, format and group, and I’ll confirm details.

Fees depend on format, travel and date. Send a request and I’ll reply with options.

Who the Workshops Are For

Owners and managers who want to leave with work done.

  • Chambers of commerce
  • Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs)
  • Small business groups and associations
  • Entrepreneurship programs

What Owners Leave With

  • A one page super avatar for the customer they want more of.
  • Buyer personas split by why they buy now and what holds them back.
  • A draft offer stack written in plain words.
  • One place to start advertising, picked for their buyers.

How the Super Avatar Works

Example only, not a client story. Picture a pest control owner in the room. First they describe their one best customer: who they are, what problem they have, where they look for help and what makes them say yes. That is the super avatar.

Next they split that customer into buyer personas. One persona buys because of a problem today. Another is planning ahead. Each one needs a different message, and the offer stack and the ads come from there.

How I Shape It to Your Room

01
Your audience first

Before the event I ask who will be in the room, what they sell and what they already know. Then I pick the examples to match.

02
One session or a series

Run one workshop on its own, or run all three in order across a program. Send a request and I'll confirm details.

03
In person or virtual

I can travel to your event or teach live over video. The content is the same either way.

Marketing Workshops FAQ

Who are the workshops for?

Owners and managers of small businesses, mostly service businesses, and the groups that serve them, like chambers of commerce and SBDCs.

Can we book more than one workshop?

Yes. The three workshops build on each other: the super avatar first, then the offer stack, then where to advertise first. Send a request with your date, format and audience, and I'll confirm details.

Can you run a workshop in person or virtually?

Both. I can come to your group or run it live over video.

Will you pitch your agency during the workshop?

No. The workshops teach. They are not sales pitches.
